Itu semalam...arini tower tu dah takde. Selalunya tower tu sentiasa mengiringi pandangan aku ke tempat keje..baik aku jalan kaki, berbasikal atau naik keta. Terasa jugak kehilangan pandangan tu bila tower ni dirobohkan.Actually, banyak bantahan bila tower ni nak dirobohkan. Tapi, untuk kemajuan teknologi, ia terpaksa direbahkan juga. Aku ada wat sikit find out...kenapa Tinsley Tower yg sudah dikatakan bersejarah ni harus dirobohkan jugak...serba sedikit cerita pasal sejarah kewujudan cooling tower nih.
"Tinsley Tower is one of South Yorkshire's past industrial era.
Historically, Blackburn Meadows was a major site for electricity generation in Sheffield.
Two coal-fired power stations were built on the site in the early 1900s and were later joined by the Blackburn Meadows Power Station, which was built between 1937 and 1942.
By the 1960s, the power station remained in operation and the M1 motorway was built close to the cooling towers later that decade.
The main power plant was demolished in the 1980s, however two of the power station's eight cooling towers were left standing as, at the time, engineers did not have the expertise to bring them down safely without compromising the integrity of the motorway.
Now, 30 years on, the Highways Agency has reinforced the motorway and demolition specialists have developed the necessary experience and expertise to bring them down in a safe and controlled manner."
More personal info..MI tu one of the major highway yg merentas dari south ke north England.Nak ke Tinsley, area rumah aku harus la lalu ini highway.. So, cooling tower ni betul2 kat selekoh masuk Tinsley..which mean, kalau korang drive kat M1, landmark nak masuk simpang tu ialah Tinsley Tower ni la.Dulu masa aku belajar2 drive kat sini, landmark taknak bagi sesat ialah...tuju kat cooling tower ni. Ha..gitu lah kisahnyer! So, disebabkan cooling tower ni dah berabad2 kat sini,penduduk sini rasa sayang banget kalo tower ni dimusnahkan. Aku pon rasa sentimental jugak walau pun tempat ni bukan kampung aku..
Dan ini adalah serba sedikit gambar yg aku cilok secara ehsan (camner nak kata yek...) dari BBC Yorkshire.
Detik2 Tinsley Tower ini roboh...
